Labor Day!

Where to begin:
I went into the Dr. office Monday morning on June 29th (3 days overdue) to see if I had progressed at all. The Dr. checked me and told me that I had 2 options. 1: to have my stress test done that day and have one on Thursday and come back to see him the following Monday. He said I wasn't doing much on my own and I would still be pregnant in a week and maybe still have to be induced. Options 2: Schedule to come in the following morning for an induction. Through much thought and debating, we decided to go with Option 2 and get her out while she was healthy.

After the decision was made, we both started panicing. We knew that we would have a baby the next day when before it was just like..."maybe I will go into labor today". So that night we went to a baseball game and packed our bags and TRIED to sleep. Kyle was so cute. He was thinking of any and every question to ask while laying in bed. I actually slept better than he did. He was very nervous.

We woke up Tuesday morning around 4:15am and headed to the hospital. I think we were stalling b/c we didn't make it there until 5:30. We checked in and they got the pitocin started at 7:00 am, and Dr. came in and broke my water at about 7:15. Very soon after my contractions started every 1 1/2 minutes apart and weren't too bad. The Dr. and nurse asked if I wanted my epidural yet and I said, "No way, this isn't that bad!!" So they came in twice and turned up the pitocin so I was maxed out. I was still denying the epidural. Contractions were getting really strong and intense but I was bearing through them. Kyle was a nervous wreck watching me in so much pain. I finally asked my mom and Kyle if they would think I was an pansy if I got the epidural and they both said, NO PLEASE....GET IT!!!! They were both in pain watching me go through the pain. My body wasn't liking it anymore and I was shaking and quivering and it was too much. I got the epidural around 10:20 or so. The pain dr. came in and had me lean over the bed and I bore down into Kyles chest. Kyle was having a hard time watching me in the pain but I told him to watch the epidural be placed. He was leaning over and his knees were locked. As soon as the needle was placed, Kyle asked if he could sit down and he was going pale. The nurse hurried and escorted him into a chair. We almost lost the Daddy to be. Anyways, it was in and starting to work. Can I just tell you that I LOVED life after that. It was great. After it all kicked in I was ready to party. I couldn't feel any of my strong contractions and I was in such a great mood. I was laughing and joking and actually enjoyed the rest of my labor. Around 4:00 pm the nurse checked me and I was dilated to a 9.5. They said they would call the doctor and have him come at 5 so I could rest and decend. Dr. Judd showed up about 5:30 and I was ready to push. He checked me and said...Well, we have 2 options. This was sounding too familiar.

Option 1: "I can go home, enjoy a nice dinner, come back in 2 hours and you will still be trying to push this child out of you OR options 2: I could use the forceps and have your baby out in 5 minutes." I was really scared and didn't know how I felt about the forceps but I just wanted her out and he reassured me that it wasn't dangerous. He tugged and pulled on her for a bit and I could feel that through the meds and then he had me push twice and out popped her head. As soon as I saw her head pop out my emotions kicked in. It was finally real. I saw my little girl who I had nurtured and loved for 9 months and now she was here..almost. I gave one last push and she had arrived at 5:37 pm. Kyle and I both bursted into tears. Kyle cut the umbilical cord and they took her to the bedside to check her out. There were so many people in the room that I could hardly see her and remembered asking..IS SHE OKAY?? It was love at first sight. She was so beautiful and perfect. I did notice her abnormally large feet and her left ear was poking straight out from her head, but that didn't matter. lol. She was here, safe and sound. The dr. sewed me back together and next thing I knew, Bailey was in my arms. I will say, I think I fell back in love all over again with Kyle that day. It bonded us closer together than ever before and I'm so grateful for her and her adorable self.

We passed her around to all the visitors and then I was able to feed her not long after. That was an amazing but painful experience. The bonding that takes place when a mother feeds her child is undescribable. The minute she was born, your heart softens and your world has completely changed. Nothing is for you now, your child is #1 priority. Kyle has been such a wonderful daddy already and he loves his little girl. I love to watch him hold her. He is so gentle and caring. Being a mommy is the best in the world, although it is long and hard days. Bailey, I love you and thank you for coming to our family.

(I walked in to Kyle telling Bailey Bible stories. It was so cute)

People in the delivery room....that I could remember: Kyle, Debby (Mom), Heidi (sister), Katy, Annalee, Allie, Caren Johnson, Gini, lots of medical staff, and who knows who else. More people came in as soon as she was born.

She has arrived!!!

Bailey Mae Johnson was born June 30th, 2009 at 5:37 pm. She weighed 8 lbs. 5 oz. and 20 1/4 in long. She is beautiful and healthy and she is the best thing that has happened in my life. I would never go back to not having her. I'm excited to start each new day b/c thats another day with my little girl.

I will be posting again my whole labor story when I get some time. I'm going to try to use this blog as a journal for me b/c it's easier and faster to type than to hand write it. So, it will probably will be very detailed. So stay tuned.

Tomorrow!

Well, we went into the doctors office today for my post due date appointment. I was due on the 26th which was Friday. He checked me and wasn't impressed with my improvements. I don't think my body wants to have this baby on its own. He said that I had 2 options. Option one would be that I could do my 2 non-stress tests this week and I would see him back next Monday! Thats a whole nother week to be pregnant and be over due. He said, I still might not go on my own by next week and we would induce me anyways. Option 2 is to go in tomorrow morning at 5 am to be induced. After many questions and thinking, we decided while she is nice and healthy now, we would rather not take chances of things going wrong in the next week and we are going in tomorrow morning for the induction!!!

It's a whirlwind of emotions because it has been such a long time waiting, but now its here! We have been on edge this past week thinking that I could go into labor any minute. Obviously, I haven't so now we know she is coming tomorrow and WOW.... its a little nerve wrecking. I will be holding my child tomorrow. I hope all goes well and she is beautiful and healthy. I will post as soon as I'm back in business with my labor story! Wish me luck :)

Dear Bailey

Dear Bailey,
Hi honey! How the heck are you? I bet you are all nice and cozy all snuggled up in that uterus of mine that I never knew could grow so big. This whole process has really been a miracle. The things you do everyday amaze me. As nice as it is in there, aren't you ready to come out and play now and hear all these funny noises with your own ears? Man, I sure am ready. I think your nails are very long because you are using me as a scratching post at the minute. Your legs must be long like Daddy's too because the other day you kicked so hard that my ribs were bruised for a few days. Makes it hard to sleep you know. I also think your favorite hours of the days are 11:30pm-6:00am. You love it when I stand up from my nice comfy bed to walk around with you. I guess you are just preparing me for the real thing. So daddy brought me a nice dinner 2 nights ago from Costa Vida. I was eating my last bite and a stupid black bean decided to go down the wrong pipe and I started choking. I almost lost the whole meal but I mananged to cough for the rest of the night and dislodge it. Later that night, I checked the mirror at work and BAM....there was the depressing news. I think that stupid black bean made me cough so hard I popped some stretch marks. I only had 6 days till due date and was doing so good. Damn bean!

Anyways, we have done lots of fun things lately. I took you to the Rodeo Thursday night. We had lots of fun with your Aunt Heidi, Uncle Morgan, Annalee, and Buck.

We also had a wedding that we went to earlier that day. Our friend Kelly Baca got married. It was beautiful.

Although it was getting pretty hot that day. The heat does bad things to mommy. It makes me grumpy and makes my whole body swell. I didn't know I had to look like a fat sausage for daddy to feel so bad for me. He helped me get undressed and change into comfy clothes, tie ice packs to my legs, and packed the couch full of pillows so I could watch a nice movie comfortably.

Anyways, Life is getting harder day by day. Your room is all ready for you to come now. Daddy and I finished it together but I won't take much credit b/c Dad did most of it. He is good at stuff like that.

I bet you hear all the stupid comments mommy gets from people dont ya? I'm just so sick of everyone asking if I'm still pregnant!! Well obviously if I still have my HUGE belly and rolly polly face. I get laughed at every day for silly things I can't do anymore. I can't even get out of the car on my own. Daddy and I went for a nice fast paced walk yesterday but it did no good. My doctor said that you will come when you want to so not to stress too much about it. Just give me a little clue?? Your bags are packed and I started packing mine last night. Every time I call Daddy he gets scared. He loved the Fathers Day card you wrote him yesterday by the way. It was very sweet. Bailey, we love you and can't wait to see and hold you. We have all taken bets on who you will look like, how much you weigh, what day you are arriving, and how long you will be. Come prove someone right. I love you! See you soon.

Why?

Why is it, that when you are pregnant, people think they can say whatever the heck they want to you and you should be okay with it. If you overreact, it's just because your emotional right? fat pregnant women have feelings too. And TRUST ME....we know when things start to swell and yes, we know we are getting HUGE. I just thought I would share a few comments that I have gotten from friends/family/husband/strangers in these 8 months of pregnancy. And yes, I know there will be more as I am still growing. haha. Luckily, I make fun of myself as well and I just try to laugh it off. I know it will all go back to semi-normal soon.

  • Honey, your face is so nice and round these days.
  • Man, every time I look at you, you are causing me physical pain.
  • You're pregnant? Good, I could tell, but wasn't going to say anything.
  • Heather, I think you should sit down, your body is swelling.
  • Can I push that bed for you? It looks painful.
  • Here, don't you dare bend over.
  • You haven't popped yet?
  • Your due WHEN?
  • Why are you so much bigger then Deb? Aren't you due after her?
  • I love to push on pregnant womens belly buttons, its like a trampoline.
  • Geez, when is that child coming out of you, you have been pregnant forever!!
  • Gosh Heather, how much lunch did you pack for one day? You think you have enough? I'm hungry too!
  • Hungry Hippo is a nickname I have recieved.
  • Do you ever stop eating?
  • Everytime I see you, you have something in your mouth.
  • Your big belly is just so darn cute!
  • Don't worry, you should

I'm sure there are many more. I get comments every day. I won't lie, I will not miss the same questions asked day after day. I just try to answer them like it was my first time being asked. I know people are just excited for me. I find myself asking the same questions to other pregnant women too though, so I think it's just a form of small talk. If you can think of any more fun comments that you got while you were pregnant, feel free to add them to the list! Only 28 more days!!!! Wahooooooo.
